Hope的用法與範例

所以Hope的詳細定義就是指盼望或期待某件事情可以發生，而通常會有一個很好的理由可以讓人相信那件事真的發生的機率很大。聽起來是樹有點抽象呢？小編這就來舉幾個例子讓大家對這個定義有更清楚的概念～
1. Maggie sends her love and hopes you’ll feel better soon.
Maggie 祝福你並且希望你能早日康復
2. Our rival is too strong, there is little hope of success.
我們的對手實在是太強了，我們成功的希望渺茫。
3. John just sent his resume to the Human Resource, and now he’s hoping for an interview next week.
瓊恩剛剛把他的履歷寄給了人力資源部門，而他正期盼著下星期會有收到面試通知。

4. Alice’s mom will go on a business trip tomorrow. Alice’s hoping (that) she won’t be away too long.

Wish的用法與範例
相比起用法相對簡單的hope，wish的用法就比較複雜了。
1.「表達對目前情況、狀態的遺憾、難過或不滿」：
used with the past simple to express that you feel sorry or sad about a state or situation that exists at the moment

在這裡通常希望的是跟現實不符合的狀況，即現實生活中是不可能發生的，所以我們要使用過去簡單式。（假設語氣）
舉個例子：
1. Ben’s grandma died 2 years ago. Ben still wishes that she were here whenever he has achieved something because his grandma always gives him a lot of support.
班的奶奶已經過世兩年了。班在達成某些成就時仍會感嘆多希望奶奶還在身邊。因為他的奶奶總是給他很多支持。
2. I wish I was a little bit taller so that I can apply for the flight attendant job opening.
我希望自己能再高一點就好了，如此一來我就能應徵空服員的工作。

2.「對過去的行為感到抱歉、悔恨，希望從未發生過」：
used with the past perfect to express that you feel sorry or sad about a particular action in the past

在這裡指的是後悔「過去」曾經做過的動作或事情，所以要使用過去完成式。
舉個例子：
1. I wish I hadn’t told John that he needs to go on a diet. If I didn’t do that, he wouldn’t eat those illegal weight-loss drugs.
我多希望自己沒跟瓊恩說過他應該要節食。如果我沒說過的話他也不會去吃那些不合法的減肥藥了。
2. I wish (that) I hadn’t eaten so much. I am so full that I would burst with another bite.
我真希望自己沒吃那麼多。我飽到再吃一口都覺得肚子要被撐破了。

這裡的願望通常是希望能因為好運或魔法而成真，童話故事裡也很常看到這個用法。
舉個例子：
1. When I blew out the candles on my birthday cake, I secretly wished that everyone I love could be healthy and happy forever.
